Terms & Conditions

INTRODUCTION

The Mobility Innovation Design Sprint (“MIDS”) is organized by the Valletta Design Cluster to encourage participants to create innovative digital solutions for challenges in urban mobility. The MIDS will take place over a 24-hour period starting from 16th November at 12:00 noon to 17th November at 12:00 noon. A short briefing and familiarisation session will be held on the 16th November at 10:30.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Participation is open to individuals aged 18 years or older.
  2. Participants can register individually or as a team with a maximum of five (5) members.

REGISTRATION

  1. All participants must register via the official online form by the 31st October.
  2. Each participant must provide accurate information during the registration process.
  3. Except for the Main applicant in each team, teams may be formed or modified until the start of the MIDS.
  4. Spaces are limited. Applicants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis based on the timestamp of their submitted online application form. The selected applicants will be informed by the 4th

MIDS RULES

  1. The MIDS will run for a total of 24 hours. All work on the project must be completed within this period.
  2. Participants may use open-source libraries, APIs, and publicly available datasets in their projects.
  3. Projects must be original and created specifically for the MIDS. Pre-existing projects or codebases are not permitted.
  4. Teams/individuals must adhere to the theme of “Urban Mobility” and address one or more challenges within this domain.
  5. Any form of plagiarism or copying will result in immediate disqualification.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  1. Submissions are due on the 17th November at 12:00 noon and should include: A prototype or demo; A brief description of the solution; A presentation or pitch video (if required)
  2. Late submissions will not be considered.

JUDGING CRITERIA

  1. Projects will be evaluated by a panel of judges based on the following criteria: Innovation and creativity; Technical complexity; Relevance to the theme (Urban Mobility); Practicality and potential impact; Presentation and demonstration.
  2. The judges’ decision is final and binding.

PRIZES

  1. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners: 1st Prize: Eur 1500; 2nd Prize: Eur 750; 3rd Prize: Eur 250.
  2. Prizes are non-transferable and will be distributed via bank transfer to the Main applicant within 30 days after the announcement of winners.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

  1. Participants retain ownership of the intellectual property rights of their projects.
  2. By participating, participants grant the organizer a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and promote their projects for marketing and promotional purposes.

CODE OF CONDUCT

  1. All participants are expected to maintain a respectful and professional attitude throughout the MIDS, both while working in the main building and whilst using the residency facilities being made available.
  2. Harassment, discrimination, or any form of inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated and will result in immediate disqualification.

LIABILITY

  1. The organizer is not responsible for any damage, loss, or injury sustained by participants during the MIDS.
  2. Participants are responsible for their own equipment, software, and personal belongings.

PRIVACY POLICY

  1. Any personal information collected during registration will be used solely for the purpose of administering the MIDS and will not be shared with third parties without consent.

CHANGES TO TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. The organizer reserves the right to modify or update these terms and conditions at any time. Participants will be notified of any changes via email or through the MIDS website.
