The Valletta Cultural Agency’s Christmas in the Capital programme is this year reviving cherished traditions and spreading a powerful message of peace during the festive season. Among the noteworthy traditions making a comeback is the Baby Jesus Procession, taking place on the 22nd of December.
The procession will commence at 6pm from the historic Our Lady of Victory Church, weaving its way through the heart of Valletta. The route will take participants through Zachary Street, the bustling Republic Street and the iconic St John Square. This symbolic journey will culminate at Triton Square, creating a magical atmosphere that captures the spirit of Christmas.
The procession will be accompanied by the Choral and Orchestral Society Maria Bambina.
Emphasising the significance of peace during this special occasion, the procession holds a central role in reconnecting the community with age-old customs that have enriched the island’s cultural tapestry.
A momentous highlight of the evening will be a heartfelt message delivered by Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna at St John Square – adding a deeper meaning to the festive gathering.
Join us on the 22nd December as we come together to celebrate the Baby Jesus Procession, a timeless tradition that not only rekindles the spirit of Christmas but also promotes harmony in the world.
