However, 1973 \u2013 precisely 50 years ago \u2013 will probably be best remembered for the plethora of amazing music that was produced during that year; music that hasn\u2019t just stood the test of time but is deemed to be \u2018classic\u2019 and memorable for several generations of music afficionados.\u00a0 David Bowie released two albums in \u201973, as did the up-and-coming Bob Marley and the Wailers.\u00a0 The Doobie Brothers, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney\u2019s Wings, Elton John and Steve Miller band all came out with albums that are deemed to be veritable masterpieces, as did Alice Cooper, ZZ Top, The Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stevie Wonder and Bob Dylan, amongst several others.\u00a0 This was also the watershed year for Pink Floyd, releasing Dark Side of The Moon, an album that is still deemed by many to be on the best LP records ever created; an album which is until this very day one of the top sellers of all time.<\/p>\n<p>As a 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary \u2018tip-of-the-hat\u2019 to this tumultuous though highly-creative year, especially in the realm of Music, the Valletta Cultural Agency (VCA) through its STRADA STRETTA programme will be organizing a concert titled THE SPIRIT OF \u201973, this Saturday the 18<sup>th<\/sup> of February @ 8:30pm at the SILVER HORSE bar and club in Strait street (corner with St. Christopher street).\u00a0 The event also serves as a kind of nostalgic throwback to a time when Strait Street was still in its swinging prime.\u00a0 Admission to the event is free.\u00a0 Seeing as though the event coincides with Carnival activities in the capital, attendees are invited to \u2018dress the part\u2019, in 70\u2019s attire or in costume.<\/p>\n<p>The Live music on the night will be provided by the Strait Collective, a band formed for the occasion thanks to some of the islands\u2019 best known musicians and singers, including David Cassar Torreggiani and Charles Busuttil up front, singers and musicians Daryl Ebejer, Kenneth Calleja, Fiona Cauchi, Nigel \u201cNoogie\u201d Buttigieg and Kersten Graham, musicians Peter Borg, Gianluca Busuttil, Luigi Busuttil and Andre Schembri, as well as special guest, Italian author, musician and guitar virtuoso Fabrizio Fedele.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&lt;iframe width=&#8221;1000&#8243; height=&#8221;600&#8243; src=&#8221;https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EN60m6K9wek&#8221; title=&#8221;YouTube video player&#8221; frameborder=&#8221;0&#8243; allow=&#8221;accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share&#8221; allowfullscreen&gt;&lt;\/iframe&gt;<\/p>\n\n    <div class=\"xs_social_share_widget xs_share_url after_content \t\tmain_content  wslu-style-1 wslu-share-box-shaped wslu-fill-colored wslu-none wslu-share-horizontal wslu-theme-font-no wslu-main_content\">\n\n\t\t\n        <ul>\n\t\t\t        <\/ul>\n    <\/div> \n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Spirit of &#8217;73 will feature the Strait Street Collective, with the participation of David Cassar Torreggiani for a night of well known classics that first saw the light of day in 1973. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":31442,"parent":0,"template":"","etn_category":[463],"etn_tags":[84],"class_list":["post-31439","etn","type-etn","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","etn_category-music","etn_tags-music"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.6 (Yoast SEO v27.6) -
