As part of the closing week for the contemporary visual arts exhibition fuse, the Valletta Cultural Agency, in collaboration with the Valletta Design Cluster, is organising a series of events and activities related to the various aspects of this project.<\/p>\n

Events, including a book launch, artist-curator talks, curator tours, presentations and screenings, are taking place during the exhibition\u2019s closing week, between the 10th and the 16th July at the Valletta Design Cluster.<\/p>\n

fuse is a collaborative visual arts and research project in response to the communities and contexts surrounding the Old Abattoir building in Valletta.<\/p>\n

This exhibition, which comprises of eight public art installations outside the newly opened Valletta Design Cluster, celebrates traditions, identities and stories of the people who lived in the Old Abattoir \u2013 a building with over 400 years of history.<\/p>\n

The process in preparation for the exhibition fuse, led by curator Elyse Tonna and her team over 18 months, started from text-based theoretical concepts moulded on community stories and through discussions which reflected the thematics associated with their work.<\/p>\n

Open until the 16th July, the exhibition deals with the themes of [Symbiosis](https:\/\/www.vca.gov.mt\/mt\/blog\/infrastructures-of-care), [Ritual](https:\/\/www.vca.gov.mt\/mt\/blog\/aar-karmel-fuse), [Familiarity](https:\/\/www.vca.gov.mt\/mt\/blog\/paatur-fuse), [Synergy](https:\/\/www.vca.gov.mt\/mt\/blog\/seesaw), [Resilience](https:\/\/www.vca.gov.mt\/mt\/blog\/inside-out-fuse), [Displacement](https:\/\/www.vca.gov.mt\/mt\/blog\/come-don’t-come-fuse), [Transaction](https:\/\/www.vca.gov.mt\/mt\/blog\/ix-xuwa) and [Intersection](https:\/\/www.vca.gov.mt\/mt\/blog\/refraction).<\/p>\n

Eight artists and collectives are exhibiting their works including Aaron Bezzina, Victor Agius, Tom van Malderen, Laura Besancon, Noah Fabri, Fatima AM and Chakib Zidi, Text Catalogue and Andrea Zerafa, Samuel Ciantar, Giola Cassar and Aprille Zammit.<\/p>\n

As per the Covid 19 regulations currently in force, prior registration for the events is necessary by sending an email to fuse.vca@vca.gov.mt. COVID-19 protocols will strictly be followed, including scanning of vaccination certificates at the entrance.<\/p>\n
