BUILD AN INSTALLATION WITH US: City of Colour

Discover your inner artist and take part in City of Colour! The Valletta Cultural Agency is calling for talented individuals to join a collaborative installation project on South Street in Valletta. With guidance from experienced artists, architects, and engineers from I+A, one of the top design studios in Malta, participants will have the opportunity to create an innovative installation to be showcased for three months. Immerse yourself in creative workshops at the Valletta Design Cluster, a vibrant community hub for cultural and creative expression. Don’t miss this chance to showcase your talent and bring vibrant new colours to the heart of the city!

About the project:

Participants will actively engage in all stages of the project – from designing the installation, to prototyping and finally production. Most of the sessions are expected to take place at the Makerspace within the Valletta Design Cluster, and the schedule is as follows:

Orientation meeting: 11th March

Deadline to apply: 15^th March at 16:00

Communication of results to Applicants: 20^th March

Design of installation workshop (2 full days): 25th and 26th March

Prototyping workshop (2 to 3 full days): 14th to 16th April

Assembly and installation: 3^rd-15^th July (exact dates tbc)

Outcome: The new colourful installation exhibited in South Street, Valletta, between the months of July and October 2023

This opportunity is for you if you:

• Have a flair for design and making
• Wish to learn about digital fabrication
• Are interested in public art
• Can convey ideas using sketching/model making or can use basic CAD software
• Can read technical drawings
• Are over 18 years of age

Notes

• Participation is free of charge and materials will be provided by the Valletta Cultural Agency. Membership at the Valletta Design Cluster is not required to take part in this project.
• Applicants should make themselves available for the whole duration of the project
• Participants are responsible for their own health and safety at all times in the Valletta Design Cluster
