Following the success of the Innocap’s Ambassadors Program promoting youth engagement in local sustainable urban mobility, the Valletta Design Cluster within the Valletta Cultural Agency, in collaboration with EIT Urban Mobility RIS Hub Malta, is looking for young people aged 16-25 to become Ambassadors and join a group of peers who will work to draft a Mobility Action Plan.
Who?
The ideal candidates for the Ambassadors Program are youths aged 16 to 25 who are enthusiastic about sustainable urban mobility topics and wish to be changemakers in Malta. Participation is on a voluntary basis and no remuneration will be provided.
Why?
Work with us for change! Participants will have the chance to be in close contact with transport experts to share their thoughts and receive feedback on current mobility-related matters in a collaborative environment, which will facilitate the creation of the final recommendations. The Program will also be a great opportunity for participants to broaden their network of peers with similar interests, and to work together to achieve positive change.
The Mobility Action Plan will be presented to the relevant authorities and to the public to give young people a voice in such an important aspect of their daily lives. The Programme will also help young people with entrepreneurial ideas to develop them.
When?
The Mobility Action Plan will be created using a bottom-up approach, listening to the people in the streets. The Ambassadors will be involved in group work and consultations with different public and private entities. The Plan will provide recommendations for policy-makers to encourage sustainable urban mobility behaviour in people aged 16-25 years. The plan will be finalised by end 2023.
The Ambassadors will be driving the process together with and guided by the EIT Urban Mobility RIS Hub Malta which is made up of MCAST, Project Aegle Foundation and the Valletta Design Cluster.
The project will follow this timeline:
March/April: Recruitment of Ambassadors aged 16 to 25
May, July, September, November: Meet once a month to develop the project
April to November: Meet with stakeholders to brainstorm and refine the actions
October: Draft the Action Plan
November: Finalise the action plan and launch at a public event in collaboration with relevant authorities and stakeholders
