The Valletta Design Cluster will host the first edition of Tinkering Days on Saturday 14 September. This innovative event, inspired by the global Maker movement, aims to celebrate the creativity and passion of local makers, including creative individuals, artisans, and people of all ages who are curious about DIY and design.
Tinkering Days will feature a wide range of activities such as cooking workshops, artist open studios, interactive activities for children including LEGO robotics, interactive displays, sound and light installations, and much more.
Tinkering Days is open to everyone, regardless of age or background. The main goal is to bring together people who have a sense of curiosity and interest in hobbies, crafts, art, design, food, and technology.
This event is an open day that offers a unique opportunity to explore the Valletta Design Cluster with various activities and exhibitions taking place throughout the building. The public can visit different stands, speak with makers about their crafts and participate in a variety of activities. There will be several open studios as well as interactive installations while the rooftop garden will also be accessible to visitors.
Entrance to Tinkering Days is free, and no tickets are required.
Food and drinks including French pastries by Geoffrey Barault, meals from SAHHA’s kitchen, and craft beers by Huskie Craft Beer Company, will be available for purchase from members of the Valletta Design Cluster. Chef Mark Camilleri will host a workshop on bread and butter in the Learning Kitchen of the Valletta Design Cluster.
The programme includes a variety of creative individuals, artists, designers, and makers including Anna Calleja, Mark Borg, Beluga Corp, Heidi and Tina’s Mosaic Start-up, Francesca Mercieca, no.site.studio, Dennis Orlov, Marica Lewis, Mike Spiteri, Anton Abela, Wicked Comics, Beauty One Innovation, The Secret Rose, Dolphin Club, Russell Smith, Rota, Rupture, I+A, the MCAST robotics team, and Community Crafts from Valletta Floriana Community Services (FSWS).
