Three of the most outstanding Maltese tenors of their generation, Alan Sciberras, Cliff Zammit Stevens and Nico Darmanin will perform during a jam-packed evening of arias and classics in Opera in the Capital – The Three Tenors.
This concert takes place under the musical direction of Maestro Michael Laus and Maestro Ryan Paul Abela, on Wednesday 28th June at St George’s Square, at 9pm. Tickets are available from showshappening.com.
This was announced by the Minister for National Heritage, the Arts, and Local Government, Owen Bonnici, together with Valletta Cultural Agency (VCA) Chairman, Jason Micallef and Valletta Cultural Agency CEO Catherine Tabone.
Minister Bonnici welcomed the return of the Three Tenors to Valletta and emphasized the general anticipation and eagerness surrounding this event. He described this concert as a magnificent celebration of vocal prowess and musical excellence, noting that their performances are renowned for their ability to captivate and move audiences.
Minister Bonnici continued that this event not only offers a delightful evening of world-class entertainment but also pays tribute to the rich cultural heritage of Malta. “By hosting such a prestigious performance, Malta’s reputation as a prime destination for music and the arts is further solidified,” concluded Minister Bonnici.
VCA Chairman Jason Micallef said “This concert is one of the many high-quality events by the VCA which are held every year in the heart of our capital. While celebrating the beauty of this city, with this concert we are also responding to the high demand for open-air events.” Additionally, it was announced by Mr Micallef that acclaimed Maltese singer, Chiara, will also be joining the trio of tenors this year.
VCA CEO Catherine Tabone said “This event will not only provide an enjoyable evening and an accessible encounter with opera to a varied public but will also serve as an important platform for local talent. These tenors, each with their distinctive vocal characteristics, represent what talent, hard work and commitment can achieve. Opera in the Capital – The Three Tenors will be an evening of world-famous operatic tunes and classics. This is the third concert in the series, following the great success of previous editions. The repertoire for tenor voices is one of the most melodic and includes many well-known tunes.
