On each of these days, all those who attend will be able to explore new collections from our established local designers and a number of newcomers. Nadya Dzyak, a famous Ukrainian designer, will also participate in this event.
During a Press Conference launching this event, Minister for the National Heritage, the Arts, and Local Government Owen Bonnici stated that the dynamic force of culture creates various opportunities for the diverse art forms forming part of the creative economy. He stated that the Malta Fashion Week contributes towards a solid annual cultural calendar. “The Government is determined to work hand in hand with the private sector to provide more opportunities for local talent,” he said whilst stressing the need to keep working towards the holding of more large-scale cultural events in our country.
The Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo stated that “This is a pure testament of the vibrant talent that the Maltese have in this sector. We must appreciate that there are targeted tourist niches within the fashion sector. Our goal remains that through the contribution with the Malta Tourism Authority we will support and ensure that the local tourist product is based on diversification and quality.”
Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef said that such iconic events put Valletta on the map internationally and showcase what it has to offer as a top venue for high-end, cultural and artistic events.
The event will open with South African designer Ferreira Couture, followed by newcomer and local swimwear brand Bajja. The first night will end with Parascandalo, who returns to Malta Fashion Week for the 8th consecutive year.
The second day begins with guests from Serbia Fashion Week – Morfium, followed by Blakkript, a local designer who returns for the second year to Malta Fashion Week. The day ends with designer artist James Dimech who will be showcasing wearable fashion from paper.
The third day will host the local brand Gagliardi, followed by Nadya Dzyak from Ukraine. The local duo Charles&Ron will then be closing the night and the Fashion Week itself.
The Malta Fashion Week 2022 is organised by Adrian J Mizzi, supported by a Partnership Agreement for Large-Scale Events and Initiatives with the Valletta Cultural Agency within the Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government. It is also supported by the Malta Tourism Authority within the Ministry for Tourism.
