From the 8th till the 24th December, Blind Date with a Book provides wrapped books in Valletta telephone booths as gifts for passers-by.
The project is being organised by the Valletta Cultural Agency as part of Christmas in the City, to encourage readers to experiment with books they would not normally borrow or purchase. This is part of a global initiative promoting literature and Maltese writers while raising awareness and appreciation of Maltese literature and writers.
All books are winners of prestigous awards and have been penned by Maltese authors including the late Oliver Friggieri.
Blind Date with a Book is taking place in the various Telephone Booths in Republic Street, Valletta from 6pm to 8.30pm, until Christmas Eve.
The VCA’s Christmas in the City programme is taking place from the 8th till the 24th December in the main squares, strategic locations and the quaint streets of Valletta. Christmas lights and decorations can continue to be enjoyed throughout the first week of January.
Visit the Valletta Cultural Agency’s Facebook page or website vca.gov.mt for a full programme of events.
For this to be a positive experience for everyone, people are being asked to only touch the book that they are taking. All mitigation measures to combat Covid 19 should be followed at all times.
