The Valletta Cultural Agency will host its Christmas Programme from November 27th to December 31st in Valletta’s main squares and streets, while the Christmas lights and decorations will continue into January. Visitors can enjoy the live Christmas Tree near Parliament, a crib depicting Christ’s birth, and various family activities, all capturing the essence of the season.
The Valletta Cultural Agency has this year chosen to emphasise its message for peace while marking this period and bringing back traditions that have been lost over the years. Among these is the Baby Jesus procession on the 22nd December, departing from Our Lady of Victory Church at 6pm and proceeding to Zachary Street, Republic Street and St John Square – where Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna will deliver a message. The procession will come to a close at Triton Square.
On the 27th November at 8.30pm, The Travellers will be launching their new Christmas single, Tridx Tkun Tiegħi Dan il-Milied? featuring Ira Losco, Gianluca Bezzina, and Michela.
Christmas Projections will light up st George’s Square as from the 4th December, at 6pm.
In the month leading up to Christmas, Valletta’s streets will come to life with stilt walkers and street animators on December 2nd, 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th, 23rd, and 24th between 10.30am and 12.30pm. On December 8th and 12th, street performers will roam around the city between 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm.
Following this, the Valletta National New Year’s Eve celebrations will feature a special fireworks display over the Grand Harbour, offering a spectacular way to ring in the new year.
