These musicians have been performing in various setups over the years, both locally and abroad, and have come together to develop a sound that best describes their musical background and approach. The idea behind the project is to experiment with a broader sound palette by getting creative with arrangements for two solo instruments, saxophone, and trumpet. This minor addition makes a very noticeable difference in the way tunes are approached since one must constantly keep in mind how both instruments are interacting and working each other.
Arrangements of important quintet recordings from 20th-century jazz albums are included throughout the set, serving as a learning process and experimentation in itself, analysing these arrangements and building upon them to create a sound that is unique to this quintet.
This event is part of the Valletta Cultural Agency’s Christmas in the City programme, taking place from the 8th till the 24th December in the main squares, strategic locations and the quaint streets of Valletta. Christmas lights and decorations can continue to be enjoyed throughout January.
