The Valletta Green Festival returns between the 25th April and 4th May, transforming St George’s Square into a striking dream-like garden with two water fountains, large trees, hundreds of shrubs, and thousands of colourful flowers. The installation is designed for walking and relaxation, inviting visitors to enjoy nature in the heart of the city.
The festival promotes environmental awareness through a series of educational stands, interactive workshops, and citywide entertainment. This year’s programme includes participation by ERA, Project Green, Ambjent Malta, Circular Economy Malta, Wasteserv, MEEE and Eco Market Malta.
“The Valletta Green Festival continues to highlight the role of culture in shaping a more sustainable future. It’s a practical, engaging way to bring people together and focus on what really matters—our environment and our economic, social and cultural regeneration,” said Jason Micallef, Chairman of the Valletta Cultural Agency.
At St George’s Square, visitors can explore the fantasy garden installation alongside a series of stands. The square will also host eco-activities for all ages, including potting sessions, games, giveaways, and a photo booth.
Along Old Theatre Street, a daily Eco Market will feature sustainable, locally made products. Free face painting and children’s workshops—including pebble art and upcycled crafts—will take place on the 27th April, 1st May, 3rd May, and 4th May, between 11am and 2pm.
At Triton Square, visitors can engage with environmental awareness activities led by Wasteserv and the MEEE Mobile Unit.
Entertainment will be spread across the city, with roaming characters such as Timon & Pumba and Donald & Daisy making appearances on the 25th and 27th April from 10am to 12pm. Tikka Banda will perform on the 30th April and 1st May between 11am and 1pm, while the percussion group Trakadum will bring lively rhythms to Valletta on the 3rd May from 11am to 12.30pm.
The festival runs daily, offering something for everyone—whether you’re curious about sustainability, looking for family activities, or simply want to enjoy the garden.
