The fifth edition of the Valletta Pageant of the Sea will be held on Saturday 22nd June 2024 at the Grand Harbour.
This biannual event, which has now found its place firmly in Valletta’s calendar, was announced today at a press conference by Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef and Malta Tourism Authority Chairman Gavin Gulia. The public is invited to watch the live show in the Grand Harbour from Quarry Wharf, Valletta.
Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef stated that “This year’s edition will offer a great show in the Grand Harbour featuring the biggest water fountains we have ever seen in Malta, projections on the ramparts of Fort St Angelo based on an environmental theme, a synchronised fireworks display, and a light show.
Malta Tourism Authority Chairman Gavin Gulia reiterated, “The Grand Harbour is a destination in itself in Valletta and the Valletta Cultural Agency emphasises the beauty of the city not only for Maltese families but also for tourists who will enjoy it in a different way through this event”.
This year’s show, themed “Save the Sea”, addresses environmental threats in the world’s seas, focusing on plastic and microplastic pollution. It will feature an animated narrative brought to life with an original score, powerful water fountain displays, and a grand fireworks finale, all guaranteed to illuminate the Grand Harbour.
Events will begin at 9pm with a show featuring traditional dgħajjes tal-pass and regatta boats as nighttime falls. This will be followed by a light projection featuring an animated narrative complemented by an original score composed by Cyprian Cassar.
The show will continue with a spectacular water fountain by Aquatique Show primarily inspired by the nature of water. With over 35 years of experience in large scale events, this will be a show of water, movements and rhythms reflecting the island’s culture.
The evening closes with a grand fireworks display.
The Valletta Pageant of the Seas is once again staged by the Valletta Cultural Agency, with the support of the Ministry for National Heritage and Visit Malta.
