This is one of a series of events that the Valletta Cultural Agency is organising in October and November.
Opera in the City – The Three Tenors marks the first occasion for three Maltese tenors of international fame, Nico Darmanin, Cliff Zammit Stevens and Alan Sciberras, accompanied by Sofia Narmania at the piano.
This is a sold out performance for which the public is highly enthusiastic.
“This is a one-of-a-kind event during which we will be presenting three distinctive young Maltese voices. Mass events are gradually making their way onto the Maltese Cultural Calendar. This augurs well and indicates that we are moving closer to normality,” said Minister Jose Herrera.
“This is a strong and clear message that cultural events and the vibes we were known for in the run up to, during and immediately after 2018 – before things were cut short due to the pandemic – will be back,” said Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef.
Opera in the City – The Three Tenors will be an evening of world-famous operatic tunes and is the second edition of the Agency’s Opera in the City series, following the great success of the first edition back in December 2020. The reportoire for tenor voices is one of the most melodic and includes many well known tunes. Having not one but three remarkable voices perform some of the most beloved arias and songs will surely be special for audiences.
The idea for such concerts came about during the pandemic when the Valletta Cultural Agency started to hold small scale, intimate events in Republic Square, near the Bibliotheca.
With Opera in the City – The Three Tenors, the Valletta Cultural Agency is bringing artistic events and in particular opera (bel canto) to the heart of the capital.
As restrictions against the spread of Covid-19 are eased thanks to the island’s high vaccination rate, the Valletta Cultural Agency continues to support artists and efforts for the cultural and artistic sector to return to normality and promotes a scenario in which artists can now continue working without limitations.
