The setting provides an intimate feeling, and a magnificent backdrop of the city, allowing the band to present the album in a live and dynamic environment.
“The Valletta Cultural Agency strongly believes in Maltese artists and has constantly supported their work. Efforts were doubled during the Covid 19 pandemic to ensure that cultural practitioners were not abandoned. Together with artists we intensified our work and sought to find new ways to reach audiences.” said Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef.

The band believes that live music gives listeners the opportunity to appreciate the tracks in a different way, especially when different arrangements were made specifically for their upcoming album Inżul u Tlajja’. This latest project will be showcased live on Friday 29th October 2021 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.
The Travellers’ second studio album Inżul u Tlajja’ is a conscious effort for The Travellers to express themselves about life experiences. The album’s various tracks have a realistic undertone are based on the writer’s experiences, on his interpretation of events and about social issues that are affecting the younger generations.
The project was developed over four years and included collaborations with various NGOs to further understand and conceptualise the social issues being referred to in the tracks.
“We wanted the album to be a reflection of what life really is, moments of sadness but also about moments of opportunity and happiness. The end result is a 13-track album, very diverse sonically, with a strong social element that the younger generations can relate to.” – says band guitarist and songwriter Andrew Vella.
When asked about why they write in Maltese, lead vocalist and frontman, Chris Gatt replied:
“From our past experience, we know that the Maltese younger generation love to identify with songs written in their mother tongue, and this project will further consolidate this fact since at the end of the day, the tracks in this album are all about creating a personal connection with the listener.”
Over the years, The Travellers have proven to be one of the leading pop bands in Malta. They amassed an impressive following the release of their EP ‘Xemx u Xita’ in 2016, with three back-to-back hit singles: Sempliċità, Dak li Int and their title track, Xemx u Xita.
Their debut album, ‘Iljuni fis-Silġ’, released in 2018, is a further testament to The Travellers’ versatility, with thrilling tunes such as ‘Ħafi Paċi Kuluri’ and ‘Ersaq fil-Qrib’ which have managed to capture the attention of thousands. Following such releases, the band reached over 3 million views on their Youtube Channel and over Spotify 500k streams, as well as numerous awards.
