Penned by George Peresso with music by Ludwig Galea and musical arrangement by Sean Vella, Beltin is sung by Mary Spiteri and Ludwig Galea.
Beltin is a reflection of Valletta’s historical plan and life. This song speaks of the greatness of this unique city, designed by Grand Master Jean Parisot De Valette and which is a UNESCO world heritage site and built under the Order of the Knights of St John. Beltin is, among others, about the main aspects that shape this city, the impact that World War II had on our capital and about its resistance and perseverance.
Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef said Beltin evokes a sense of gratitude and appreciation to all those who are or were part of this city. Beltin is a reflection of the character, the colour, the enthusiasm and the energy of its people of both the past and the present. After all, these citizens are those who have kept it alive throughout the years. Mr Micallef concluded by describing Beltin as a gift from the Valletta Cultural Agency to our capital. This song will remain associated with Valletta because it is about what makes this city unique.
