1. To take part, an application form which includes details of the participants and a description of the vessel must be submitted in full by the deadline. Incomplete applications shall be immediately disqualified.
2. Participants in Tellieqa Telliqun must be at least 18 years of age;
3. Participants can be individuals or groups;
4. Each participant/ member of the group on board the craft during the race must submit a disclaimer certifying that they are physically fit; can swim and are responsible for their own health and safety during the building of the boat and race;
5. All participants must wear a fully-functioning life jacket. The Valletta Cultural Agency will not be providing any life jackets to the participants;
6. Each individual participant or group who builds a craft and takes part in the activities of the 24th and 25th of June will be entitled to a grant of Eur 300 to cover the cost of building materials;
7. Claims for costs of repairs or compensation for damage to the craft prior to, during or after the event will not be entertained;
8. Participants are allowed to seek sponsors to cover any difference between the cost of material and the grant of Eur 300 offered by the VCA and to discreetly display the signs of the sponsors on their craft during the race;
9. Participants must remain physically on the craft throughout the race. The use of hands, legs and feet to propel the craft is permitted but the torso must be on the craft at all times during the race;
10. Participants should be fully vaccinated (including booster shot)
11. Each group shall nominate 1 person to act as signatory of an agreement with the Valletta Cultural Agency and to act as the contact person with the Valletta Cultural Agency’s signatory
1. Vessels must not be more than 4m x 4m in size;
2. The use of engines and/or oars is forbidden;
3. The use of boat/jet ski/catamaran/paddleboat hulls (regardless of type or material) is forbidden;
4. The materials chosen to build the craft cannot be hazardous to humans and/or the environment;
5. The craft built must consist of a minimum of 80% recycled material;
6. Each vessel must be equipped with a hook to allow it to be towed;
7. The craft must be a completely new idea, the use of crafts that have already been used for previous races will not be allowed.
8. The Agency reserves the right to inspect the craft during construction and/or before, during or after the race to ensure that the conditions are being adhered to. If a craft breaches any of the above conditions, it will be automatically disqualified and no grant will be disbursed
**C. Special conditions**
As this is a special edition dedicated to an important event in Malta’s history, the craft must be inspired by the theme of the 2022 edition of the Valletta Pageant of the Sea and in particular by the many British navy ships forming part of convoys which supplied Malta in the period 1940 – 1942.

b. Once built, ensure that the name is clearly printed on a visible section of your vessel
January 2022: Launch of the registration process for applicants.
8th April 2022: Deadline for registration of the vessel at 12:00 noon.
28th March 2022: Communication to the first 20 applicants to submit their registration.
6th June 2020: Craft must be completed.
24th June 2022: Craft must be brought to the designated area in Senglea and displayed to the public. Participants will be asked to stay with the crafts to answer any questions the public may have for not more than two hours. Visitors will choose their favourite craft for the ‘People’s Choice Award’.
25th June 2022: Pageant and race as part of the Valletta Pageant of the Seas
First Prize: Eur 1,500 and Shield
Second Prize: Eur 500 and Trophy
Third Prize: Eur 300 and Trophy
People’s Choice Award: Trophy
The first, second and third position will be marked at the very end of the race with a special pageant using differently coloured smoke/flares with colours associated to each team. Actual prizes will then be given privately after the race.
